About Us

SIMEPSI is the first scientific society in Italy dedicated to the research and development of Psychedelic Medicine, committed to promoting innovative treatments that combine scientific evidence with an integrated approach to care.

We are a multidisciplinary community composed of doctors, therapists, researchers, and humanists united by the common goal of exploring and developing the therapeutic potential of these clinical intervention methodologies.

What We Do

The rapid evolution of scientific research on psychedelics is opening new horizons in mental health treatment methodologies.

Our goal is to actively participate in the development of psychedelic medicine in Italy, increasing awareness of the potential risks and benefits, and contributing to the creation of a regulatory framework that supports the safe and informed use of these therapies.

Specific Objectives:

  • Promote and encourage clinical and basic research on psychedelic therapies
  • Explore the social and cultural implications of psychedelic practices
  • Collaborate with institutions for the regulation and safe access to psychedelic treatments

What is Psychedelic Medicine

Psychedelic medicine is a discipline that embraces health and life sciences. This multidisciplinary field promotes research on the therapeutic use of psychedelic compounds, maintaining a critical and cautious approach to avoid oversimplifications. It aims to integrate clinical evidence into medical practice through ongoing dialogue with other disciplines, ensuring scientific rigor and ethical integrity.

Become a Member

To become a SIMEPSI member, you must read the statute and send the application for admission through the online portal.

The request will be evaluated taking into account the academic and professional background, as well as the personal profile of the candidate.

When sending the application, it will be necessary to indicate the names of two ordinary SIMEPSI members who can act as referents regarding the application for membership.

It will be necessary to attach:

  • Application for admission completed and signed
  • Letter of presentation
  • Curriculum Vitae et Studiorum

If the application is approved, it will be necessary to proceed with the payment of the annual membership fee (50 Euro).

The Board of Directors reserves a maximum time of 60 days to evaluate the proposals for admission to SIMEPSI.
